Garden
The detached villa is surrounded by a small Mediterranean garden. In the summer the grass becomes very dry and we are always happy when guests take the time to water it. Between the swimming pool and the barbecue is a small flat lawn for sunbathing or playing. The rest of the grassy areas are sloped.
In the upper part of the garden there is an almond tree, a fig tree and a cherry tree. An apricot tree grows on the north side of the villa. Roses climb the walls and there are herbs such as rosemary, sage and thyme.
On the south-facing patio by the pool there are sufficient garden chairs, beach chairs and sun loungers. Guests can also make use of parasols, the outdoor shower and a rotary dryer.
The pool, which measures approximately 30 square metres, is 1.5 m deep and has steps. By French law, swimming pools must be fenced off for the safety of small children. From October to April, outside of the hot summer months, guests can make use of the pool heating. In order to keep the water warm and clean, the blue cover should be used to cover the swimming pool every evening all year round. The cover is also important in preventing creatures from falling into the pool. The cover is easy to roll out and retract using the crank handle.
The underwater lighting in the pool creates extra ambience for evening barbecues in the garden or for night-time swims.
A brick barbecue has been built up against the wall to a neighbouring garden including a sink, lighting and a high smoke vent as a roof. Recommended barbecue ingredients include specialties such as Catalan sausage, French meat or fresh fish from the local quaysides at Port-Argelès or Port-Vendres. However, in the case of parties or music, please be considerate of the very nice neighbours.
