Please note: there is another town called Villelongue, which is also in the Pyrenees but is 400 km away from the Mediterranean Sea. So when you are searching for the address in your satnav system, please make sure you add the ‘dels Monts’.

By road

Villelongue dels Monts has excellent road access. From Lyon, head south on the A7 motorway (‘Autoroute du Soleil’) which runs from Paris to the South of France. When the motorway splits at Orange, take the A9 in the direction of Barcelona. The route passes through the Cévennes, past the Ardèche, Camarque and the cities of Avignon, Nimes, Montpellier, Beziers and Perpignan all the way to Boulou, 10 km before the Spanish border. There are plenty of places for a rest or overnight stay along the way.

After leaving the motorway at Boulou, it’s just a 15-minute drive to Villelongue dels Monts. You can’t hear the motorway in Villelongue or in the villa itself.

Driving in France is a generally pleasant experience. The motorway speed limit is 110 km, the service stations are clean and well-maintained and the tolls can be paid electronically. However, significant congestion is likely on Saturdays in the peak season.

By air

A flight/hire car is a convenient option thanks to three nearby airports. Girona Costa Brava (GRO) in Spain is the region’s biggest international airport with regular flights from UK. The holiday villa is approximately an hour’s drive from Girona.

The second Spanish option is Barcelona Airport which has countless affordably-priced connections to many European cities. The driving time from Barcelona to Villelongue dels Monts is approximately two hours.

The third option is Llabanere Airport in Perpignan (PGF), which has direct connections to all major French airports as well as London Stansted. Perpignan is just a 40-minute drive from Villelongue dels Monts.

By rail

The villa can be reached by train by travelling to Perpignan from Paris, Strasbourg or Nimes.
